- 2020 Finance Industry GBA
- Every year GBA holds a casual version of job fairs in which graduates and students of GBA actively communicate with each other. Since a face-to-face meeting is unavailable due to COVID-19, the ‘2020 Finance Industry GBA’ took place online on Oct. 6th. In ‘Finance Industry GBA’, graduates who have worked in the finance field give juniors advice on getting a job. They shared information about the companies working for, duties in the workplace, and their experiences. A total of 37 people including graduates in the field and undergraduates attended the event online, held by the program chair, Young-Han Kim, and administrative office. He thanked four graduates who participated in the ‘2020 Finance Industry GBA’ at a difficult time with COVID-19. They are currently working for Korea Venture Investment Corp., Goldman Sachs, Shinhan Investment, and Samsung Securities in the field of IB, sales, venture investment, and trading, respectively. They advised in common undergraduates to do an internship in various fields. Graduate A said, “Don’t be buried in preparing for a certificate such as CPA, just dive in the real field and experience how to work through an internship first. You can tell whether you are willing to work for the company during an internship. It helps you to eliminate what is not suitable for you.” Another graduate suggested that students build a career regardless of the size of the company. Meanwhile, Graduate B said that using tools – PowerPoint, Word, or Excel – and finding which one is convenient for you in the college team projects also could be a hint to find the right field for students. Kim, GBA 9th who attended the event, said, “Thanks to seniors in various fields such as coverage headquarter, sales, venture investment, and market-making, I became to view the finance industry with a wider perspective. Sharing advice that fits one’s situation and detailed information were very helpful.” The event was ended with networking that undergraduate students can ask for more questions and advice.
